2005 vs. 2006 type s
Many of you may think that 05 and 06 type s's are the same but i have read that the 05 is a k20a2 and the 06 is the k20z3. Why did Acrua (honda) change the engine for the 06? why is the 05 210hp and the 06 201hp? any input would help, thanks!
02 - 04 were k20a2
05 - 06 is k20z1
to make it stronger i assume, and the new SAE hp rating kicked in this year and it turns out that Acura was pumping 9 extra hp in the statistics when they only made 201. and they have to comply with rules so yeah there ya go. 05 and 06 makes same hp

i had talked to a salesman about that at an acura dealer before....we all know salesman and how they usually know jack ****, but he said that its the same car it just took into effect lose of hp to the wheels. so closer to the whp. I don;t know though, thats just what he said
Search around here for "new SAE standard" or something like that.
Basically:
THE 2005 AND 2006 RSX TYPE-S HAVE THE SAME ENGINE, SAME POWER, SAME EVERYTHING. ONLY THE TESTING METHOD CHANGED, WHICH GAVE DIFFERENT NUMBERS.
I hope everyone pays attention this time. This is an old subject.

You've posted stuff like this in a few threads recently, but it's not correct. You haven't read that the '05 is a K20A2 and the '06 is a K20Z3 because that's incorrect. Honda did not change the RSX-S engine, the K20Z1, between '05 and '06.
As roundworldsobig mentioned above, the '02-'04 RSX-S had the K20A2. The '05 and '06 RSX-S has the K20Z1. It's the same K20Z1 for both 2005 and 2006. SAE standards for measuring horsepower in production cars changed. Honda began using the newer method for rating horsepower between the '05 and '06 RSX model years. The '05 rated 210 horsepower with the old method. The '06 rates 201 with the newer, more accurate method. The engine makes the same amount of power. It's simply the method used to represent the output that changed.
