vtec engagement&boost

does vetec engagement on a single cam really kill the turbo spool. i heard that when doing a single cam turbo not to have a vtec cus it messes with the turbos spool is that true?

i doubt it. now mine is not a sohc but when i hit the crossover it pulls like no other to the top
