Default d16y8 head onto d16y7 block; mini me

I have a D16y8 1998 civic EX. I also have a wrecked D16y7 1997 Civic DX.

I want to keep the vtec head in my EX and replace the block with my newer 1997 DX block.
Will the process be simpler since the car is already a vtec and i'm only switching blocks?

I have looked up other mini me topics and i can't find one where the vtec head is being kept in the same car.

thanks

I already found that it works. I just want to know if it is simple.

All i know that i will have to do is shorten my exhaust. everything else will just hook back together the way it was.

am i correct?

just leave your y8 block complete

would would you swap the block when you dont need to. the y8 head and y8 block are supposed to be together, not y7/y8

the y7 block with y8 head has a little higher compression, and the y8 head is a direct bolt on.
