OT: winter tire change at NTB
The summer tires on my R must be swapped with my winter ones. I normally go to a specialty place to get them changed, avoiding the ugly paint chips that most places make while changing the tire. Unfortunately I dont have time to take it to the normal place.
Does anyone have a good experience getting their tires changed at National Tire and Battery(ntb). Are they careful not to chip the rims?
Thanks!

I would say to just make it clear to them that the rims are flawless, if they can do it without ******* them up then so be it, if not they will pay ot fix if they do mess them up.
Also if you cant put a tire on a 15" wheel, then something is seriously worng with you.

I'd strongly recommend a set of Millenia's or even cheap steelies for winter tires. It'll save you the $50 everytime you change out the tires. You could probably buy some 15" steelies for $50.

Even a new set of steelies from the Tire Rack only runs $168, which isn't all that much. (It's an even better deal if you buy them when you're buying your winter tires, because then the mounting and balancing is done for free.)

FWIW every store is different and every stores employees are different. Like the others said try to find a set of use 5 luggers for the winter. The money you spend on swapping tires will pay them off in a year or two.
You may just want to find a local rim shop specializing in expensive/custom wheels. They will have the appropriate tire machinery to minimize damage.

LOL, that would be the last place I would take it to. They dont specialize in taking off tires and wheels. As much as I hate NTB since I was a former store manager there, I would recommend them or Discount Tire/Americas Tire.
The quality of the work all depends on the person behind the machine. For the most part, chipping wheels and scratching them is a problem of the past. Technology and equipment is much better than it was before.
If you want to know who has the better trained people, it would be Discount Tire/Americas Tire.
