Default 86 dx carb electrical problem

for over a year i have been dealing with this problem with my 86 and i have no idea what could be wrong.

i drive the car and after 3000 rpm the battery light comes on and everything in the car gets bright and well have a bog in power sometimes it would stay up at like 3000-4000 rpms and not kick down. end of July i took it to a mechanic and he said he could not duplicate the problem and that the alternator was putting out proper charge. soon as i got the car back it was still doing it. out of nowhere for about the month of September the car ran good i could rev it to about 6000 rpm's no problem. so one of my headlights went out and i had to rewire (just adding a ground wire from the light plug to the battery) and well right after that it would do the problem all over again minus the high rpm's. So i drove it and then the light would come on and it started sticking high in the rpm range. so i took of the makeshift ground to see if it was something i did. it still would have the same problem. i just decided to check the battery and i noticed it was getting cooked. and well now i am stuck and i dont know what else to do with this car. anyone here experience this before?

it sounds like u got a bad alternator............sometimes they can charge , when the shop tested it it tested ok,probably the brushes where making contact at that time.. is the battery lite on all the time???

have the guy take your alternator apart and take a look, or get a new one, it seems like idling and slow driving dont have an affect on it at all, hell it could be the plug that connects the alternator to the battery for it to charge, it could have come loose, but my best guess is your alternator is slowly dieing, cant charge your battery fast enough

i took my alternator out and that is all i had time to do till it got cold and dark out. if i need to replace the plug or the alternator where can i get good parts cheap.

so a low charge on the battery would cause it to eat up water in the battery like an overcharge?

sometimes it is and other times it is not. the other day when i drove it i could not get it to kick down rpm's and the light was staying on all the time. and at the same time all the interior lights were brighter then normal i had the heater on and it was running louder and faster.
