Good or bad idea?
Wanted to know which out of these two idea's sounds better
1. To get cams i/h/e and get it all tuned. I know im going to have to buy valve train to run something like s2s2 and i might even need hondata. Without any other mods, just to get the cams in and working properly its going to cost me like $1000+ and im barely going to hit 195-200whp
2. Or Sell the b18c5, buy a b18b or b20, put stronger rods and pistons, hondata, injectors, turbo kit get it completely tuned. I want to be making around 250-300whp so the car can at least compete with some of these other stock turboed cars. Dont drive the car everyday, but i dont want it to be having problems.
Is going the turboed route better? what do you guys think? I love type R's but they just cant really compete with all these new cars putting down 250+whp.

I think people have already said this to you before in the past. But if you're trying to directly compare the R to an STI or EVO, then sell the R and buy an STI or EVO. Because you'll have a more reliable and potentially more affordable package to start out with in stock form.
I'd spend money on tires, brakes and suspension and lotsa track time before I'd go either Crazy NA or Turbo. But that's just me. I like to actually be able to rely on and play with my toy whenever I like and or can.
There's a reason I bought a Honda instead of an Alfa or Triumph or MG or Porsche for that matter.

Both of your ideas are going to cost you a **** load of money. Put a lot of emphasis on '**** load' so you can get what I'm saying
I would recommend some heavy research followed by a ton of phone calls to the tuner shops that sell these parts your interested, or better yet, the people who make them.
Extrupilate the data and derive an answer.

Extrapolate. (Sorry Brandon, I couldn't let it slide)
Is spending all that coin going to make you happy? Especially when you don't really get to use it very often?
Speaking of which, what DO you use the car for, anyway? What are you trying to compete with?

If you're trying to keep up with the whole Turbo AWD crowd you dont have many options. If they have many mods at all and you want to keep up, you're going to need to go turbo (or sell your left nut for a crazy all-motor setup). Either that, or appreciate the car for what it is and look forward to something faster one day.

I think everyone can relate to "competing" with buddies cars and other local guys.

I occasionally track the car and i also want to be able to compete with my friends and the local guys.
Im not comparing the Type R to a Evo or sti. Even if you modifiy those cars your still going to be in the same situation as a built turboed honda.
Im not really looking to spend more then 4-5 thousand on a complete turbo b18 or b20 setup, so i wanna hear if its worth the money, or if im better off just keeping the car around stock form with minor bolt ons

If you track the car, I would stay NA.

$4k-$5k isn't going to get you an all out setup allmotor or turbo.
You may be able to eke out 200whp na or 300whp turbo, your choice on that budget.
BUT the turbo car won't be good for road racing without a lot of other supporting mods to keep her cool..... Forged rods and pistons are a must!

Chris F has lots of valuable tips on tracking a Turbo R, it's mostly what NOT to do, but still...
I'd say spend those 4-5k$ on good quality NA parts and tuning, much more reliable if trackdays are your thing. You should be able to put together a nice mild setup on that kind of money.
