Default Oops Crankshaft sproket

Ummm okay here is the question....
I broke my crankshaft sprocket on my b16a2
I am currently in the process of switching out my b16 for a b18 (water doesn't compress LoL) Anyhow I was trying to take the crankshaft sproket and it got stuck so I was GENTLY prying it up and just after a friend of mine said I can't break it POP! it broke LoL
So then I decided eh WTF I will use the tegs... I noticed that they are different though and I don't know if I am missing something... the b16a2 had like a cog on the back that the teg's didn't have... My friend was telling me it was part of a crank angle sensor... made sense cuz the b16 had the sensor on it whereas the b18 didn't though I am not sure if I was missing it from the previous owner... Basically do I need to use the sensor my search provided no help except that the new crank sprocket would set me back $125

00 b16a2
94 b18c1

I am thinking this is a sensor they added later on in life
Also if I don't need it what would the effects be other than throwing a code til I get my obd1 ecu?

I'm confused. You mentioned the crank sproket first, then at the end of the post you said cam sprocket. Which is it?

Hmmm....you talking about the sprocket itself that the timing blet rides on right? I would STRONGLY advise buying a brand new OE one. Just my personal opinion though.

I know on Volvo's there is a woodrow key on the crank itself and a corresponding notch in the sprocket. If that gets fucked up then you are pretty much totally screwed. Not sure if its the same situation on Honda stuff. Could you post some pics?

Oh, and no crank position sensor is going to make it difficult to start up (if it will even start). Since it has no CVVT mechanism once its actually started you should be OK.

PLEASE do not take that as gospel truth though....I am thinking about this situation as if it were a Volvo....which it is not. You'll need to find out for sure from a wiser source than I.

It is the car and ECU that requires the crank sensor. You will have to get a new one, but ofcourse it will not fit an older Teg oil pump, and you will not have the bracket for the pickup. You will have to change that also.

got the newer teg oil pump so that isn't the issue.... I plan on swapping out the ECU for an OBD1 but I guess I will have to buy one ******* honda charges 88$ for a litle piece of metal..

yeah so do I.... Just need the ECU... If I convert to OBD1 is the crankshaft sensor disabled anyhow? Cuz I know I am going to obd1 just when is the question... If it is dissabled I may just go aheads and do it now instead of paying the $88 dollars honda wants me to spend on that damn gear....
