rear suspension bolts on a 1996 civic hx coupe
like the title says me and my friend tried to put his coilovers on his 1996 honda civic coupe and the bolts are soo tight its unbelievable, so we heated the bolt that didnt work- we put wd-40 on it that didnt work- tried an air compressor that didnt work and i thought of taking out his control arm and dropping the rear suspension out to put on the new coilovers and the bolts are stripped- does anyone have any idea as to how we could go about taking out the bolts i need some help really bad and i figured come to the place that ppl know hondas best.... so any help would be greatly appeciated thanks..... someone mentioned drilling the bolts out if anyone has done this please give me a detailed description as to how to get it done if you have time thanks for all your help
i just got new bolts from honda, and since i was replacing my lca's trailing arms, and suspension, i didnt have a problem. i didnt need to use any of the old components that were stuck onto the others cuz of the old rusty seized bolts
A friend had recently did a 5-lug swap on his hatch, so I snatched up his rear LCA's thinking I might run into this problem...which I did. So when I removed everything, I just left the LCA's attached to the stock shock. It was also a good time to re-bush the 'new' arms and get new hardware for the install.
If you can't source another set of LCA's and the bolt head is rounded off, use a cut-off wheel and cut the nut off on the other side of the shock. Then use an air hammer to push the bolt back out.

so if i use a air tool and cut off the rounded head and the nut thats weleded to the shock i could hammer out the rest of the bolt since its not threaded into the lca and then just buy a new nut and bolt from a hardware store? damn u guys are ****** geniuses i cant believe i didnt think of that
but im confused how do i get the bolts out if there rounded off like the person above said cut off the head of the bolt and the nut on the shock and that should work right?
You only cut off the welded-on nut. After that, use an air chisel/hammer with something that will pound out the bolt from that side. No need to cut off the rounded-off bolt head though.
But yeah, get a new bolt from Honda and then an appropriate nut for it. I wouldn't opt for some general bolt from Home Depot or some such though - get that from Honda.

Yea i had to use a torch and cut everything out..(COuldnt hammer the bolt out) so i cut it off with a torch and ordered the proper nuts and bolts from honda..Oh yea and used a prothane polyurethane bushing kit to replace the bushings.
