Default Drivers review of my new motor.

The details....

B16b civic type R block with Darton sleeves
Pro Billet rods
CP custom pistons 84mm 12.5:1 compression
SFP cut LS long stroke crank
Type R oil and water pump
JG Pro series ported race head
Ferrea valvetrain
.5 over valves
Skunk2 stage 3 cams
JG adj cam gears
Type R valve cover
JG Pro series sheetmetal intake manifold
JG 64mm throttle body
Moroso 5qt pan
BDL Industries fuel rail
Ford SVT 450cc 16ohm injectors
AEM EMS
Holley 255 fuel pump

Bolt on crud:

Ebay special whale ***** intake
CTR exhaust manifold
Omni 2.5 test pipe
JDM ITR B pipe
JDM ITR muffler

It was tuned on a dyno, but it is apparently one of those that reads ridiculously low....somethign like 180 peak HP and I KNOW that in the dynojet land it would be around if not over 200. I will post up a dynojet chart as soon as I get up to H-ville and spend an afternoon at Trackmasters.

Motor pulls about like a stock ITR at 4k and below. 5-6k is pretty beefy and once it hits Xover at 6200 it is freaking wonderful. Apparently it needs more tuning becuase I have a stutter at WOT between 3 and 4.5k at any gear above 1st....the higher the gear the worse the stutter. Possibly due to cams and IM though...not sure yet. There is a very noticable dip in power at 5.5k. I'm sure more fine tuning will get rid of it. Idles like a dream and drives at partial throttle around town very nicely. I know my power is being choked off by the CTR header...it will be remidied as soon as my money situation allows. Oh yeah, also need to get the Vtec WOT/RPM only deal programed in thsi week. Just a minor issue.

Strange part is that I have noticably less power in 5th gear at any RPM as opposed to my stock B16B. No clue why since the flywheel and clutch are exactly the same.

Props to Tracy from Mobil Electronics for the deal on the motor and the tune job. Very happy with the purchase and I'm sure that with more fine tuning I will become even happier.

Very different setup, nice. Is that crank offset grinded for a bigger stroke?

its rumored that a b16b block with ls crank = ~1.9 liters. Do you know if thats about what your at? Im kinda leaning towards doing this build myself if i dont go FI

b16b block is the same height as b18c or b18a/b, so it would be the same displacement as a normal ls block and whatever head

god hates you if you throw a rod through the block...not if it rains all day...

isnt it the same as the b18c/b18c5 block? not the same as the b18a/b block which is what makes it 1.9 liters with a ls crank?

An LS with better pistons, oil squirters, better deck height, more compression, and faster revs...yes.

Why would it be better deck height when it has the exact same deck height as an LS block?

Since when does the block have any bearing on displacement. Displacement is determined by stoke of the crank, and cylinder bore diameter. Oh and of course the number of cylinders.

Put a ls crank in any b block (short of a B20), and you get the same displacement with OE cylinder bores.

Dont get me wrong its sick having it in a b16b block for the stamp! but really all that stuff would be the case aswell if it were a an ls block. except for oil squirters but i would block them anywho.

Still, have the 1.6 stamped block with big displacement is sleepr.

if you have 84mm pistons and 89 mm stroke you need a 75mm TB and dump the ctr header and go with a hytech $799 off the shelf. that is what I have on mine 86mm pistons, 89mm crank. 237whp 156tq dynoject.

75mm sounds overkill imo, wouldn't 68/70 be sufficient?

I'm goign to stick with the 64mm TB for now. I know I need a new header in a BAD way. Just haven't gotten aroudn to buying one yet. Once I add a header I'm fully expecting 220ish on a dynojet. Unfortunently the closest dynojet is a couple of hours away....so I'll have to stick with under rating the motor for now.
