Need new component speakers
My tweeter blew out on my integra so im thinking of going the component route and switching the front speakers out. I am currently running a pair of kenwood excelon two ways in the front and rockford fosgate 3 ways in the back. The deck is a alpine headunit and i am running a 1500watt rockford amp and 1farad cap powering 2 10s in a bandpass box. Im wondering what speakers i should look to get. I don't want to spend too much, but don't want to be cheap. Looking for something decent. I was looking at MB Quart or Polk Audio components. What do you guys suggest?
I have not seen or heard the new MBs but it has always been a very good brand, I am not a big fan of Polk, although it has been a dependable brand, [what I have installed, we are not a dealer] for the price Infinity makes a pretty good product, [again we are not a dealer, based on what we have installed] have you looked at Eclipse or JL Audio?

no i haven't. I am not familiar with those two. I have heard that MB quart is a good brand and two of my friends bought the polk audio speakers. I am just wondering which ones to get. Not looking to spend more than maybe 150-160 on these pair of speakers.
im in agreement with fcm as i am currently running discus mb quart 6.5 components in the doors and discus mb quart 5.25 components in the kick panels.
jl audio is another great brand, they are manufactured in the same place as the mb quart speakers are.
im planning on using jl in my new setup to change up and see what i like better.
but i have definitely been MORE than pleased with how my mb quart speakers have performed for me, and i still am.
good luck.

to answer your other question, if you do choose to go with mb quart, purchase the premium series.. they have nearly the same quality and specs as the top line q-line for about half the price.
the speakers are worth the money, 200 is a good price. so just save up an the extra 40 more than you wanted to spend, and be more satisfied in the long run
awesome, great choice. let me kno how you like them once they are installed.
what does the rest of your system consist of.. or are you just upgrading these speakers?

mentioned the rest in the first post. Not all that great but okay i guess. I been through enough systems and just want some okay sound now. Im kinda finished with the stereo focus now.
damn that sucks. i just finished focusing on making my car fast cause it wont happen unless i put about 30 grand to satisfy myself, plus i just would rather have a quite comfortable ride, with a real nice stereo. but good luck. lemme kno how things turn out.
the MB's really went down in quality once rockford bought them out IMO.. so i would stay away. polk makes decent speakers for the price. or you could get some alpine type r's. keep in mind you'll need to amp them.
how much are you looking to spend on the speakers alone?

mb quart is very reputable, whether being bought out by rockford or not.. they still produce a great speaker.
you wont go wrong with your premium series purchase.

he also informed that he LISTENED to the speakers as well as talking to installers.
its an opinion on how well the MB's still perform.
but i can almost guarantee you that 9 out of 10 people would say mb's are still great speakers given their repuatation.

overall, mb has made a name for itself.. and it hasnt become a top end speaker for no reason. u may have higher expectations because of the fact that some make a big deal about them when u think they should perform better..
as i said, majority would generally say that the new compared to old mb's perform just as well.

just as well is fine if you're competing with yourself, they are no longer a top end speaker, perhaps in tweeter and audio stores they are. rainbow, dls, focal, seas, etc. etc. are top end speakers. mb is fighting for middle of the road maybe slightly above
once again, u are comparing apples and oranges now.
in a previous thread you stated rainbow speakers can costly 10-15,000 dollars.
mb quart are NO WHERE near that price.
