Default Multimeter tests...What settings?

I bought a $20. multimeter from Autozone.Its a ACTRON brand.

Im testing the coil and ignitor in my distributor. My HELMS says to put the + at the A terminal and - at the B terminal and I should read 0.6-0.8 ohms.

What setting to I put the multimeter on?Heres the best pic I could find of it.

Also it says resistance will vary with coil temp., specs. are at 68 F.
How much will it vary with it being 59 F outside?

Thanks

Is there a setting that looks like this?

The meter might auto range. go ahead, put it on that setting and hold each terminal with each hand.

^^ not a joke, honest.

^ amperage for current flow... but yeah if you're measuring for resistance look up that ohm symbol. also make sure you measure resistance with no power to whatever you're measuring meaning it's been disconnected.

That thing is huge!

Anyways yeah theres a OHM sybol but theres 200 2000 20k 200k 2000k.

I disconnected the white/blue wire and black/green.

Under 200 OHM from
A-terminal to B-terminal I got 1.2.Its supposed to be 0.6-0.8

A-terminal to secondary winding I got 9.0 Its supposed to be 12.8-19.2

The digi screen is supposed to jump around in number then finally stop right?

Bad coil

Did you do these tests with the battery disconnected?

You can damage components by testing them with the battery connected.

yeh good call on the power. btw, you wont meaasure any aperage unless you have a resistance
