Default Little OT: Anybody use a Sony VX2000 camera for video

Looking at getting a high end camera to shoot some kick *** video for expo (along with other stuff, skateboarding, wakeboarding, etc...) and was looking at the sony vx2000. I was just wondering if anybody had any experience with this camera and what they thought of it. Thanks for the help, here is a link to the camera: http://www.sonystyle.com/digitalimag...e_VX2000.shtml

I think you should get a dozen x10 cameras... nothing like recording your butt slide form side to side.

Seriously though, VX2000 sounds really nice. They can be found for ~$1,500.

My friend uses the vx1000 for skateboarding, and has been using it for the past 3 years. according to him, the vx2000 is much better in low light situations but there has been problems with the motor whine coming through the tape. anyways, i would get the vx2000 regardless. awesome camera for 1600.

I got the JDM version of it and use it for hi quality vdo.

For in car stuff, I got the Canon Elura2 (thanks Fry's Electronics for wrong pricing )

The canon shoots pretty good vdo, but the sony kicks on 455! With the sony, the vdo comes out looking like professional f00tage instead of like America's Funniest Home vdos.

If you got the $$$ for it, I highly recommend it.

yshi - who needs to start taking more vdo!

I've seen footage taken from a VX2000 and it was the most unbelievably good video I've ever seen! None of the usual video noise. Not a pixel out of place. Better than DVD.

Hahaha, I need a spy cam for the booby trap.

Thanks for the reviews guys, looks like i'm probably going with the vx2000, as I heard the GL1 from canon does not live up to the vx2k. oh well i'll keep you all posted and put up some videos soon.

Also cosworth, I just ordered the x10 camera, we'll see how that is for in car video footage shortly

Now I just need a small cam for shooting video at parties and stuff, anybody used one of these?

hey, my Dad actually owns that camcorder and I use it regularly b/c he's always busy taking pics on the digi cam Well anyway, the 3CCDs on the VX2000 produce very HIGH quality video images, very close to professional quality, imo. I have some clips that I've made on my computer down at school. Fireware...mmmmMMMM.... IM me and I'll hook u up when I get back
Oh yeah, I'm also planning to bring the camera to the expo

Ive used the VX2000 back in japan for about a year as a project at school.
If your gonna get the vx1000, better get the vx2000 since it has the monitor, as well as some other stuff. But what are you planning on using a vx2000 for? putting it in the car? i dunno about taht since its pretty big, about knee to hand length. (Its very good for skateboarding though). I loved the vx2000, and its worth the money.
