Default steering column. help!!!

hi i have a 91 civic si hatch back that got stolen. when i got the car back the ignition lock cylinder (thing you stick the key into) was cut in half. so basiclly you could use a screw driver to start my car. last night is started to try to fix it but the manual i am using just doesnt have enough information about this. my question is how do you fix this? what i have been told is that i need to replace my steering column, if this is true can anyone tell me how you take it out? i have already taken of the steering wheel. thanks for for looking.

Depending on the damage you probably can just replace the lock cylinder itself. Im not at work right now so I cant pull up any diagrams for it but I can try to get by there tomorrow and check it out if not Monday morning for sure.

thanks that would be really helpful i tried to just replace the key lock cylinder las night then this morning i started my car and it started just fine but all of sudden it died so i tried it again and it wouldnt even turn over there was no spark at all. also the bolts that conect the steering column to the lock cylinder have no teeth so there is no tool i know of or that i have for that matteer that can get it off. maybe a dremel?

I cant get my work today so monday I can hit you up with some diagrams and alot more help. But you would have to rekey the lock cylinder to match your original key.

A honda dealer will rebiuld you lock cylinder so you can use your old key, but when I worked a dealership it paid a mechanic around 3.5 hr.s labor, but thats also on a general motors vehical.
This is not something I would do if you havent done it before, trust me it isn't any fun and once you take it aprt it will not go back together right if your not knowledgable of its workings

those bolts are "shear bolts" get a small chisel and chisel them loose, then take them out. i work for honda and theres no way 3.5 hrs to rekey a lock. maybe around 1-1.5 not sutre though. take ur lock to ur closest dealer and see what they say.
