Default Is my car worth more now?

Hi guys,

I had bad oil consumption, so I took her into the dealership and we did 3 consumption tests and compress/leakdown.

It came down to them ordering a brand new Shortblock, Cylinder head, engine rebuild, and i got them to put in a new timing belt and tensioner.

So basically i do have a brand new engine in my R.

With a new and healthy engine with approx 400kms (not even broken in yet) If i decided to sell in the spring time, will this be a good thing in the eye of a buyer? Im assuming yes?

Let me know your input!

I do realize people may think the car was abused, but thats not the case nor will i waste my time with people like that.

Cheers

Repairs do not increase the value of a car - they maintain its value.

Yes and no. Some people will think less of it because the new engine does not have a vin number on it and the engine numbers won't match up with your vin. However, some people just won't care and would pay more for a fresh engine as long as it was broken in correctly... but how will they ever know that beside what you tell them.

So the answer is it's probably worth exactly the same... maybe $500 to $1k more if you are luck.

Well, I have been trying to sell my R for months and it appears that no one wants Type-R's any longer. So either way you're fucked

A type R is only a Type R
The value is in the eyes of the beholder.

no it doesn't make make ur car worth more its just maintaining it cuz if u don't fixe the prob the cars value will go down and if u repair it the car value will maintain it won't go higher

I imagine if you present the potential buyer/ buyer with the papers from the dealer showing why the block was replaced, it wouldn't lower the value.

As previously stated, it really depends on the buyer. Some want all matching VIN's and some would look past that and look at the fact that it has a new engine. Do you have the stock engine still or did the dealership keep it? Reason I ask, and I know it would be a pain but if there was no block damage you could always go through the hassle of honing the old cylinder walls and putting all the fresh parts back in it and then selling the old block.

<---- Dave who knows if it were him, would probably go through that kind of a hassle.

This has to be one of the funniest quotes I have seen. That made my day.
