Default jacket/pants connection q. for track

so i wanted to try out some track days and started hording gear. now i just got my a* pants in, and they fit, pretty snug mind you, but i can put them on around my waste w/o having to suck in or anything, it's in the thigh/crotch area that they're pretty snug, and moving is awkward, but i think that will get better with breaking them in ... right?

on to my real question thoough, i've got a jacket that fits me ok, i'm 6'2 and most jackets are a little short on me but this one works great, BUT i now need to sew in the zipper 1/2 to the bottom of the jacket so the pants can connect for the track. if i'm standing up it's fine, they meet ok and it would work, but crouched on my bike there's a good 5" gap between the top of the back of the pants and the bottom of the back of my jacket. what should i do? sew it as is and hope it holds/breaks in? or have the guy sew in a strip of leather to "connect" the jacket and patns that would give me a few more inches for when i need them?

anyone else have this problem?

Most people don't sew their own suits together. People buy 2pc suits for a reason. If your doing it yourself, you could either sew in an extra piece of leather to bridge the gap you have when crouched over. Or you just sew in a elastic/stretchy type leather peice, kinda hard to describe. My suit has some sort of elastic stretchy leather stuff in the torso area.

Your gear should fit snug

If yer doin track days then don't skimp on yer gear.

Get a 1 peice suit for track use or buy a jacket that will fit with the pants you hve now.

Most tracks won't let you use a 2 peice suit with anything less than a 3/4 circumference zipper anyway.

It would really suck to have a weak modification come between you and the asphalt when you could buy a better fitting 1 or 2 peice suit for around $400.00.

Hein Gericke does offer their jackets in Tall sizes.

They never check, at least none that I have been too, but most list this as a requirement on their websites. It's a good rule to follow regardless though.

Most 1pc suits have stretch panels on the lower back specifically for your to tuck and stretch. 2pc jackets usually have the zipper on the inside and don't offer much stretch. Get a 1pc suit.

It's not so much that you're breaking the organizer's rules, but if you fall, you don't want to depend on a small little 8" zipper to hold your leathers together. They will rip at the weakest point.

The snugness in your crotch area should only be there when you are standing straight up. The leathers should fit comfortably while you are in "riding position."

I believe Aerostitch has an "ellipse" type of elastic band they sell. But, if you're irregularly shaped, I would suggest getting a custom suit. Nothing fits better than custom.

i'm not doing the sewing myself. since my jacket isnt a* it doesnt have the matching zipper in it for the pants, basically i'm getting the other 1/2 of the zipper sewed into the jacket at a tailor's who can do that type of work.

and i agree, a 1 pce suit would be better w/o the stress point in the middle, but it wasnt an option at the time i bought the pants, so i'm going to have to deal w/ a 2piece setup for now, which i'm fine with.

the track i'm going to is jennings in ga. http://www.jenningsgp.com ... i havent actually been there yet, but from what i've heard they're not that strict on the rules. not that i want to bend a rule that is meant to make it safer for me anyways, but i'm just saying.

the pants came with a zipper all the way around, which i'm going to use to attach it to the jacket, it's not just an 8" zipper ...

obviouly a custom 1piece suit would be cool, but i'm not that cool yet, honestly

and the gear is pretty snug, and i sat on the bike this morning with it and had good movement so i think it'll be ok. i dont think getting the next size up pants would help the problem i'm having w/ it being too short in the upper area when i'm crouched. i'll look for a stretchy matl and ask the tailor about it.

here's a pic, note the zipper that goes most of the way around. also, this isnt me wearing them, just the pic from the website, they are definately snugger on me than they are on the guy here, like they're skin forming for the most part on the thigh's for me ...
