Grinding in third
When I am at high rpms and get ready to shift to 3rd, it will grind if i do it fast. I can do it slow like press in the clutch and hold it for like 1 1/2 seconds then shift to third very slowly letting it slide in and it will not grind. But if i hold the clutch down and go fast it will grind. And this is only going from 2nd to 3rd. If i down shift to 3rd like go fast and shift from second to fourth and drive then downshift to 3rd, it is okay. Why? I don't understand synchros that much, but is it my syncrho going out??? Or could it be that I am slowly leaking transmission fluid. Found out yesterday I was leaking transmission fluid. Any help would be great!!! Please don't flame me.... OH, I have a b16a sirII!
Peace

i have that problem as well.. and my friend w/ a R has that problem.. he's lucky since his car is still under warranty.. so they fix it by replacing trans..
the guys at honda say its a transmission thing.. they get lots of it

sounds like a lemon to me if ive ever heard about one before.. are there lemon laws in nj or where he lives?? i know that in VA if you have to have something fixed more than 3 times cause of the same problem in like a 1 year period or soemthing they have to replace it free and make it work..
I used to have a horrible, horrible grind in 3rd. What worked for me, was i simply changed my fluid in my tranny and replaced it with Redline MTL. It's the ****, no more grinds! Every tranmission I ever own is going to have nothing but redline in it from now on.
