90 integra transmission..which is it?
i'm hearing way too many things. people are way too confused over the 90-91 and 92-93 trans..sometimes confusing with the ys1..which i KNOW is the gsr trans.
i've heard two forms of s1, i've heard j1.
what is my transmission and what is the spline count?

the ys1 wasn't only found in the 92-93 gsr
it could also be found on 92-93 non-gsr tegs
as for the 90-91; I don't remember the code, that's probably cause it's nothing special

if it is the stock tranny, then you have an S1 or an LS YS1, which is obviously different than the gsr/jdm b16 YS1. so there exists an LS YS1 and a short YS1, just to clarify.

So much misinformation. Search or read below.
90/91 long geared... y1, a1
90/91 short geared... s1, j1
92/93 all ys1... vtec = short geared... non vtec = short geared

The thread title says you have a 90 tranny. Look at the number code on front. If it starts with y1 or a1 you have a long geared one. If it starts with an s1 or j1 you have the short geared one. Simple as that. If you dont have the code on there you gotta open it up and start counting teeth.

ys1 are ALL 92/93 trannys. vtec ones are short geared and nonvtec ones are long geared. cant really identify which one it is from the outside. you gotta count the teeth and i forgot how many are on which.

You can tell if its short or long by taking it up the interstate one time. If you get to 80 mph, and it's around 3800, its a long geared tranny. If you are around 5000 rpm at 80mph, then it's short geared. I've seen ys1 trannys on 92-93 LS. I've seen them on 92-93 GSRs, and I have one with my first gen XSi swap. Mine has the short gearing.

a ys1 could be a 90-93 LS tranny, a 92-93 gsr tranny, OR a 92-93 jdm RSi/XSi tranny.

is it in the car? easy....go on the highway @ 80 mph. if you're at 4500, then it's a short geared tranny.
if not, bust it open and count the teeth.
