</TD></TR></TABLE>
The fun part is practicing not to use the brakes, but to lift for a second and get WOT asap to carry you onto the front staight.
Brian and I were practicing a bunch in November. He did it more than I. It's one of the few last things that still gives you butterflies in your stomach when you have driven the track more than a few times already.
LRP is my favorite course for many reasons. But the main reason is that no matter how many times I drive it, there's always something to work on mastering. It's one of those tracks that can change drastically as the weather and season changes.
Another reason is that you can have a high HP RWD car and be fast on other courses but at LRP even that Spec racer following him can OWN a higher HP car from Big Bend through the Esses into No Name straight and on up the hill if the Higher HP guy is not on the ball.

And from there it's quick into the downhill which is definitely a high confidence ride to say the least.

Exactly. Don't brake, just lift (easier said than done) and make darn sure you late apex the corner. Oh, and don't wet your pants. The pic was taken just a few months ago.
My best lap was a 1:06.5 , which works out to be an average speed of 82.7 mph.
I autocross in DS, so everything is pretty much all stock, except for koni ssps. On the track, I was running Toyo Proxes RA-1 on 15x7 wheels. HP+ pads.

Hey Now,
That picture really captures the Downhill. It's like you're riding out 50 foot wave. There's a "swale" in the pavement right at the apex. The further off the apex, the higher the swale. And the pavement goes off camber about 1.5 car lengths from the apex, so it's a double whammy: swale and loss of camber.
1.06 is a damn good lap!
