Opinion: Clutch + Flywheel
Any ideas on a recommended clutch or flywheel? I need a servre clutch change and I might as well get a flywheel too. Im thinking stage 2 clutch masters and a 9lb flywheel. I've read about the lightened flywheels and heard alot of bullshit...but I'm stickin with 9lb.
Remember this is possibly a 400hp+ setup but needs to be streetable :D
My friend sadly enlightened me that 400hp and streetable in terms of clutches do not belong in the same sentence.

I personally like exedy for clutches. can get you good deal if interested. also can get good deal on fidanza flywheels.(haven't made an opinion on those however). A sponsor of ht is listing an 8.7lb chromemoly for 149 which is a great deal. fidanzas are aluminum w/steel clutch engagement area. will warp after awhile. the chromemoly shouldn't warp(being steel). email me or im if interested in clutch. can get smokin deals w/ exedy. almost wharehouse. need to know if d or b. and exedy stage 4 is extemely streetable and capable of holding 6-700 on a very streetable clutch. I am in process of 450 whp daily driver. scrapped a 200 whp d series in favor of b. just liked the sound better I guess. exedy stage 4 is one piece including flywheel at 11.2 lbs I think for total clutch and flywheel.
puck clutches grab instantaneously. sometime cause severe chatter at take off. but they hold alot of power. stage 4 has 2 discs. in sudden enguagement it will slip one and grab the other kindof launching the car by itself. makes for smooth enguagement w/ability to hold great amounts of power. smooth enguagement = longer tranny and axle life!!

Yeah listen to this guy, he really SOUNDS like he knows what hes talking about. Not like he just wants to sell you something :sarcasm:
From experience I have found that boost does not like lighter flywheels.

The one I got was rated for 250 hp. Didn't say whp or bhp, that was from the place I bought it from on ebay, which doesn't seem to even know the difference in whp and bhp.
Anyways, engagement is very smooth quick. When just everyday driving it shifts so smooth just like stock. When I get on it and really going at it when you switch gears it will through you back in your seat, grips excellent.

i am not selling you anything. just trying to pass on a good deal. I don't own any shop or business. have a friend who does. and anyone that wants a deal I'll get him.(not me) to pass it on to ht members. I don't make anything off it. and everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

I have a fidanza flywheel and a stage 3 6puck clutch from http://www.clutchnet.com and im very happy with how smooth the clutch is on my b18.
i have a exedy stage 1 and a stock b series flywheel. i love it. ive had a clutchmasters stage 3 and i hated it. the exedy feels slightly firmer than stock but engages smooth and grips excellent
