1990 doors on a 1989
i have some doors from my 1990 Si (seatbelts on the doors)
and a buddy has a 1989 hatch, (seatbelts on the pillar)
other than the obvious, having to remove the pillar seatbelts, and possibly hookup the 1990 seat belt buckles off the floor, will they "bolt up"??
i've done a LOT of **** to hatches.. but this is a new one to me.
and yes, i searched.

88 - pillar mounted
90-91 - door mounted
89 - depends
88 doors fit on 90-91 chassis.
90-91 doors do NOT fit on 88 chassis.
its due to the thickness of the doors, and the door jams fit to accomodate the extra thick doors, even without the seat belt mechanism bolted to the door.
and besides, changing from door to pillar mounted seat belts is not a trivial task.

well.. if the doors themselves did fit, then i dont see why changinf from door to pillar mounted belts would be hard, seeing how the car they would go on already has pillar mounted belts.. so simply removing the belt mechanism off of the door, and still using the pillar belts would be the answer..
but if the 1990 doors wont go on a 1989 with pillar belts, then thanks for answering my question.

thanks for trying to help, but i talked to 3 people on other forums that have actually done the swap, and they all say with very little work, and effort, they bolt right on, and its not a problem!
