Code 4 CPS
About a month and a half ago I successfully completed the MPFI swap on my 91 cx hb. Everything ran good, no codes except for the obvious 20(ELD)....HOwever the other day there were some intermittent noises coming from the distributor similar to a crunching/squeeking sound and when you touched the dizzy you could definately narrow down it was coming from there.
Today the noise came back however there were no codes, but after about 30 minutes of driving the check engine light came on and I received a code 4 (crank position sensor)....I know it is wired correctly because I never had any codes before on this.
Could it just be the sensor inside the distributor that failed , and is connected to the crunching sound like the dizzy was about to go???

The sound you hear is the bearing going bad inside...
The code is being thrown because the bearing is made of metal
which sticks to the magnetic sensor as it is ground up.

ouch that must be one mess in there...Ide say its time for a new dizzy,,,,,,
Im just thinking, maybe my recent 7500 rpm revs could have something to do with the premature demise of the dizzy bearing as it is actually spinning that fast when I race.

Meh, things just get old. I wouldn't think that doing that would kill it.

OK I got a different si distributor and this ones used so I wasn't guaranteed for it to work perfect. There is no more code 4 and the grinding noise also disappeared, however now I get a code 9 with is also related to the distributor.
There are a few times when it misfires.
Could this finally just mean its distributor related and its time for a good used one or could it be something else?
Really I think its dizzy related that is misfires because it could be related to that different dizzy's coil and other parts.
So yeah Ill suck it up and get a good used one
