Default JL W7 or JL W6v2?

I was wondering which of these 2 subs would be louder? 2 12' JL W6v2 or 2 10' W7? Right now i have 2 12' W6v2 and i just found a good deal on 2 10' W7. Should i keep the W6v2 or get the W7 instead? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming both are 10" drivers and they are installed in proper boxes and properly powered, the W7 should be louder by a tiny bit.

10W6V2-D4- 400W (Pt) thermal power handling, DVC 4ohm. so 800W for 2
10W7-3 - 500W (Pt) thermal power handling, SVC 3ohm. so 1000W for 2

As you need twice the wattage to get a 3dB gain in output, [what we as humans need to tell if it's louder] I doubt you can tell the difference between the two sets of subs.

I would be willing to bet I can make a bigger difference with the 10W6V2-D4s that you already have, just by installing them properly in a better built box, mounting the box properly, wiring and powering them properly, [assuming that has not already been done] 94

Just wonderin what kinda box are they in and what amp you got on them?

My last install was 2 12w6v2s in a H.O. JL box for 2 W3s,box was too small. But they got crazy loud, with around 500watts a piece goin to them.I would stick with the w6v2s.Good choice.

i have them in a ported box that's how i bought them. Would a sealed box be better? Im using a zapco 1100.1 to power the subs.

Ported will always be louder and if built right sound better, imo. Some people just go with sealed because its easier to build and takes up less space. But i find that JL subs sound good in pretty much any box you throw them in,ported or sealed.

w6 sound alot better but the w7 has more potential to get loud, slap a 1000 watts to each and they'll ****

very nice amp by the way. Ported will get louder, but if you think ported sounds better you're a fool. sealed for sq all the way

nah, sealed typically gets lower and deeper, ported tends to be more boomy and loud. with that said a very well designed ported enclosure can sound decnent while being loud. but its not going to sound as good as a sealed box in a proper install. box design matters just as much as the sub. if your going sealed goto the companys specs. if you're going ported theres a wide range of options to get the desired results. when building a box use some 3/4mdf and calking and DONT BUY PREFAB BOXES

i have a great design for a W6v2 enclosure if anyone wants it

personally i'd get an idmax, sounds as good (some argue better, but the w6v2 is well known as one of the best sq drivers) as the w6v2 and gets alot louder. wont rape your pocket book like the w7 will either
