i had the clutch replaced in my 98 civic coupe with an exedy oem clutch. i also had a fidenza flywheel installed at the same time. the car was fine for a few hundred miles, but soon the shifter started to rattle. i have also in stalled a generic short shifter off of ebay. the short shifter was installed long before the clutch was replaced. does any one know what may be causing the rattle and if it is a problem? there is no real change in driving experience, except for the fact that shifting out of fifth gear is a little stiff.

 

Check the shifter bushings and the linkage. Something might be loose.
