Default BOSE rsx Alpine HU help! HU shut off and wont turn on again.

HU: alpine 9835
Harness: metra 70-1725 bose amp integration harness

I had my head unit it up and working for about 2 days and today when I got out of school, the display on the head unit would not light up (wouldnt turn on) and none of the buttons worked but I could still hear the music.

I hit the reset button on the headunit with a pen and then the music no longer worked so pretty much nothing worked and it wouldnt turn on.

Here is how I have it wired:

I had the remote wire of the HU wired up to the amp turn on of the harness and it was working fine.

When I tested the amp turn on on the harness with my test light, it had NO POWER. Maybe thats why it isnt turning on? does the bose amp have a fuse or something?

I took a wire from my cig. lighter to get some power. When i connect it to the amp turn on wire on the harness, I hear this clicking noise from the right side of the car. I know the amp is under the passenger from seat, is the noise from the amp ?

Here is my other thread I had on connecting the HU.

thanks.

Check fuse in the cabin fusebox and the underhood box, too.

i checked all the fuses both the ones under the dash and the ones under the hood and they seem to be fine. Everything else in the car works except the HU.

From what youve said it sure sounds like it. How old is the HU?

That clicking you hear is from a relay next to the amp under the seat from what I believe

Since you used harnesses to install your radio, it should be relatively easy to just plug up your factory radio and see if it plays.

From there you can cancel out your possible bad sources

what bad sources could there be? It has to be a bad HU if the stock one still works.

Well there is a possibility that the harness may be bad, maybe a bad connection somewhere on the pins or the RCA terminals themselves.

But my assumption would probably go toward the headunit as it already showed sign of damage with teh dimm lights and now no music.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Ditto all of that. and because it's a Metra harness, I would also lean towards the HU, easy enough to check, hook up the yellow and red to the batt. pos. (+) and the black to the batt. neg. (-) and see if it will turn on, if it lights up and functions work, I would have a close look at the Metra adpt. harness, 94

if the unit is not lighting up but you still hear music, it means one of two things
1. the HU is bad
2. alpine radios with the graphic display have a function on the menu to shut off the display

I hooked up the red and yellow to the (+) of the batter and the black to the (-) and the unit would not turn on. I guess this means that it is not the metra harness but the unit itself.

I still wonder what could have caused it to not work anymore if it was fine for like 2 days...

yea, it was called the blackout feature, it was suppose to take the power of the display and put it towards the speakers, I never really say any diff in it. But it was on certant models. But he said none of the buttons work, when the radio was in blackout the display would light up if the buttons were pressed.

Sounds like the head unit is bad. If the stock one went in and worked fine it is not the wiring harness on the car and unless you did something with the harness when you put the head unit in it had to be the head unit

yeah check the fuse on the back of the HU itself

oh and that wiring is a mess, rewire it and clean it up a bit.

also, that clicking noise, my amp did that before and it was caused by a loose remote wire, then my amp goes click, pop, smoke.

so be careful
