Default Help: Carbon Fiber Hood Fitment

Hey guys, I need help with fitting my VIS C/F hood. The hood sits good on the driver side, but it sticks up a little bit on the passenger side near the head lights. I did replace the bumper and both fenders due to an accident. Should I take it to the shop and get it pulled, or is there other ways I could go about fixing this. I do have hood pins on order, so hopefully that would hold it down. Thanks

Hood pins work wonders for this kind of thing. I'd get them installed before making any significant adjustments, especially if everything else lines up good.

How long have you had the hood? Did you buy it new?

The reason I ask is because prolonged useage of a single hood prop on a carbon fiber hood can actually begin to warp the hood.

Do you have a B series swap? If so thats your prob. and thats the best youll get. My gap was 3 times worse then yours befor pins.

How does that affect it? (Not trying to be a dick, just curious)

Sometimes with aftermarket hoods there are clearance issues.

A friend of mine left his in the sunlight and put a towl on top of the hood as well as a 10lb block on top of the towl. The heat eventually warped it back down.

BTW, have you tried fiddling with your bumpstops?

same thing happened to me with my vis and you might just have to adjust these.

Seibon is the ish... but that's alot of effort for such a small gap (that can be fixed).

This is the first thing you should try b/c it is so simple to fix if this is the problem.

You can raise and lower the bumpstops just by turning them.

Problem with mine was that the under skulleton of the hood kept hitting my valve cover and Dist causing it to pop up more then normal. When i cut the skulleton it would be about a gap where he has it.

VIS is the only CF hoods that i heard with this problem.

hot sun + towel + cinderblock = your fix.

If its cold outside use a heatgun, but not too much! Get it nice and warm then let it fully cool, with the weight on it. Do it a few times.

Remove the weight, should stay put!

This is only if its NOT a clearance issue of course.

This worked on my hood but my hood is pretty shitty. In summer it fits perfect, in winter it contracts toward the firewall and sits about 1/2" high on either side lol.

I left my VIS propped for 2-3 months and never had an issue fitment has always been good too and yes I have a boosted B swap. If your car has been in an accident it may be an alligment issue with the rest of the area and not the hood.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to look for any clearance issues tommorow. If that doesn't work, I'll just take it in to the shop that did my body work to see if they can straighten it out more. Oh, I did adjust the bumpstops all the way down.

I think I'm having the same problem as luserkid with my valve cover and dist. cap hitting the hood. I placed toothpaste on the corners of the cover and cap and it transferred over to the hood after I closed it. Does anybody have pics of their modified skeleton. Thanks
