Default Opinions this CRX motor setup?

I want to do H22 into a CRX using the ZC tranny, with the Aftermarket 4.9 D series final drive, and the 5th gen CX 3rd gear as my fourth, for an especially tight ratio...better than the H22's stock ratios, and doesn't have that notchy feel that a Prelude shifter has.

This will be using the Bisimoto H/F motor to D tranny kit. Given who he is, I'd say I'd trust the product, and I'd trust the ZC tranny to deal with the H22A power. He makes 350 HP, I just want bolt ons stock H22.

H22A
-4-1 Header
-Intake
-3 inch exhaust with Apexi N1 muffler
-mild cam (trying for 8000 RPM)

DOHC ZC tranny
-Replacing ZC 3.88 FD with 4.9 FD, replacing 4th with a 92-95 CX 3rd, and replacing short ZC 5th with longer 88-91 Si/DX/LX 5th for freeway crusing.
Bisimoto H to D trans adaptor kit
Gears would be:

3.250
1.944
1.346
1.066
0.771
FD 4.9

Thoughts? Comments? This will be in a CRX.

I would but I already undertook a B16 swap into my coupe last year, I don't feel like doing a full one already. I already have this tranny, and making those gears that short won't be as costly as a B16A cable trans that will probably have fucked up 2/3 synchros anyways.

It's still better than H22 gearing, and the it might be about equal or better than B16 gearing, with the 4.9FD.

H22 CRX aren't common, H22 motor can be made good.

D series tranny suck ***. ZC gearing blows. I took my ZC tranny out the moment I bought a ZC and used Si tranny, better gearing out of the box. You should use that tranny and get tighter gears without having to rip it apart and spend alot of cash.

The ZC actually has slightly closer ratios than the Si:
ZC: Si:

1st: 3.250........ 3.250
2nd: 1.944........ 1.894
3rd: 1.346........ 1.259
4th: 1.033........ .937
5th: .878........ .771
final 3.888........ 4.250

as you can see the only diference is the final drive, which he is replacing anyway. Also the ZC has equal length shafts, so since it looks like you are making a drag monster here, it might be nice not to have torque steer.

It will bolt on with the Bisimoto H/F series motor to D series transmission kit. He is the one that had the D15 non VTEC running 10, and now he switched to F series SOHC in his CRX using the D series tranny. F series blocks are compatible with H22, thus the kit is sold for either or.

The D series will take the H22A abuse, because he puts out 350+ HP with a F23 block, and I'm looking for bolt ons+cam+ tune H22A, which is not nearly as much as he pushes.

i would have to say go with ls motor.. if you planing to go turbo. this is a good motor to start.. has low end torque and also the tranny on this car is good for a long run on the highway if you going turbo.. later on you can add vtec head on . I use to have a h22a motor with turbo in my car.. i would have to say h22 is pretty fast and makes alot of power in the car. but the disadvantage on it is how heavy the motor is. right now i have a b17 motor.. i make more power on it then i do on the h22.. the reason i would suggest a smaller motor is.. since your car is light.. you wont have any traction on the road..with the h22. i be spinning tires on 3rd 4th and 5th.. such a big engine and massive torque just gonna slow you down.. beside timing wise in a 1/4 mile.. bseries wins over h series. i did better time on the b17 motor than i did with the h22 .. but its ur choice to pick. but i would go for ls motor or gsr over a h22. also one more thing about whats weak about h22.. is top end wise. this motor do not like to rev high due to the crank, and longer stroke. with a b series motor.. u can go up as high 10K with the proper set up. but the choice is urs , whatever u want to do.
