Default Looking to convert from vw's to honda's

So to make a long story short my 2003 golf blew a head gasket, water pump, and in the aftermath needs the head to be machined. Best part is when it all happened I was just cruising done the highway(in the middle of the desert). I am sick of this unreliable volkswagen crap so I am going to buy a GSR. I dont know what to look for as far as integra specific things when I go shopping. So any pointers or info about buying a DC2 GSR would be helpful. Thanks.

get ready for a huge leap backward in complexity, and giant leap forward in reliability

as far as shopping, it depnds if u want to go turbo, SC, NO2, or na. Goodluck. Have fun.

Thanks for the reply. That whole reliability thing sounds pretty good. I am actually looking for a bone stock GSR for daily driving and stock class auto cross.

Depending on the age and miles on the car this is what you will need to look for:

Bad radiator, the top tank cracks, very common, easy fix.

Distrubitor, Around 80,000mi they tend to go bad. This varies from car to car, but both of my tegs have had one go bad.

Timing belt. They need to be changed at 90,000. Make sure it has been changed, or if the can is under 90k be prepared to change it.

Aparrt from that look at all of the normal car stuff, do a compression check, all of the records are in order.

Good luck

The single biggest issue when buying a used Integra is not the car, but the moron's who have owned the car.

My girl has an 04 golf it's a beautiful car, rides mint. But my 93 LS pulls on that thing like crazy. You'll feel a HUGE difference with a GSR.

i was into V-Dubs for about 5yrs.. had 3 mk1 gtis, and an MK2 gti with vr convo. Nice looking cars, but slow as hell, not reliable worth a beans. I changed over to hondas in 2000 and havnt look back since.

Good move coming to the right side

look for rust in the rear quarter panels (common problem)

look for rust under the carpet in the hatch (leaky hatch)

Thanks for all the replies. I start parting out the Golf this weekend and I am really excited to go looking for a GSR. It should be nice to have a reliable and semi quick car instead of a slow and unreliable car.

I bought by GS-R in September out of Maraland and found out the kid that had it before did some nice mods to it (i/im/h/e ect.) And some not so nice things, like he doesnt have a clue as to how to do anything electrical, yet he tried and failed...miserably. And well he raped it on a daily basis, but so do I and with only 114,??? she is just getting broken in. Good luck, hope you find a good gsr. Post pics when you get it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Beware for the previous owners. Do your homework and definitely look into a carfax report. Otherwise these things are bullets They'll treat you well as long as you treat it well.
