How can you tell the difference between the two transmission? They are both S80 on sticker? correct?

 

Hmmmm....I'm sure Reid will see this thread. He owns both a USDM and JDM R.

 

4.4 has J4D stamp on it
4.7 has N3E stamp on it

Or if it's open u can pull out the FD and start counting the teeth. Good to see you are still with us Tim.

Yup I saw that recent topic and it didnt answer my question though, I dont think they will let me open up the tranny to count the teeth.
