Money = every cent you've got. That hasnt ever changed. There are a lot of threads about the cost of running an HC/IT car, and figure $1000/weekend, if you dont bend any metal or break anything serious.

I understand that my answer could be found by searcing but so could every answer in the world. Isn't the point of these forum to provide info to fellow racers. I've been searching (granted im not very good at it) and it would be appreciated if someone could simple answer the question. It's a simple yes or no(or as i said in my original post provide a link to a thread were my answers could be found) Thanks.
How many HPDE's do you recommend before going "real" racing?

I instruct the Competition School for NASA. (Run by Driving Concepts, a great organization)
When you put in a request for registration into the school, we do a "quote-unquote" background check on you to make sure you are qualified to enter the class.
Qualification is based on a few criteria, track time being one of them. You will be called and asked questions.
Primary concern is safety. If a student claims to have more experience that they really do, it will SHOW UP IMMEDIATELY ON THE TRACK. People can BS the registration, sound good on the phone, but the truth will "out" when you hit the asphalt. For people who are not experienced enough, generally we remove them from the class and let them spend the weekend in HPDE.
This is typically how we do it here in SoCal. It may be different elsewhere.
The class is about $495. http://www.DrivingConcepts.com
EDIT: I forgot to mention- taking the class does NOT automatically grant you a license. Licensing will be based on performance within the class. Lots of people take the class more than once.

That will vary on to many factors.. but this year I went though 2 sets of brake pads front and 1 set rear. I had bought 4 sets of tires this year but never got to fully use 1 set (damaged during race's).
