Default Fixing my AC 2000 Civic

hi, so i bought a 2000 EX (d16y8) with everything working, until i realized the AC wasnt working. the guy I bought it from said it just needed a recharge; i recharged it, but the AC still blew warm air.
at night, the air gets cooler from the vents, but not cold. i was wondering, does anyone know the problem? is it the condensor or the compressor? has anyone ever tried replacing either of these parts at home? i can get the system vacuumed, but im just wondering what kind of work is involved. is it just better to take it down to my local honda dealership? thanks

did you check to make sure the compressor clutch was engaging when you hit the AC button?

Check this first. Should be an audible click when the clutch engages.

Check this next, just to be certain.

If nothing else, follow this DIY. I did it last weekend, A/C blows in the high 30's right around 40 degrees.
