Default Stock Intake

I have a stock intake with a K&N drop-in filter and was wondering if it is worth the investment to get an aftermarket one. I have seen a lot of people with stock intakes with their swaps, what are some pro's and con's of the stock intakes?

Show Car??? Buy it if you want looks under your hood. Make it if you dont. Defently better then stock. Not worth the money.

Go here:

Buy one of these cut it up in the bends you need. Weld it all up ( Get someone to do this if you dont got a welder) Grind down the welds, sand and then polish or poadercoat. Get 3" piping though and get the filter first to see how it will attach. The filter has to be a cone one obviously. Dont forget the vacum line on it you have to drill a hole for that. Look at several aftermarket ones to get the vacum line placment

my 2 cents

I have the same set up in my CRX and I took that pipe and left a big hole in my box. Sounds good, and it seems to pull a little harder.

I just built mine out of ABS, works fine for a DPI civic, Would've left it stock if it weren't for clearance probs w/ strut bar.

The stock airbox is not very good for making any kind of power. Not only is it quite restrictive. But the filter area is WAYY too small. You will notice good gains with any good aftermarket intake. Especially a cold air intake.

ah i've seen Locash's (from HASport) dyno plots on when he tested the same motor setup, one with K&N stock airbox and one with underhood intake, and they were identical and if i remember, i think the airbox came out a little more powerful than the conical filter.

plus the airbox is a hell of a lot cleaner looking.
