Default Brake Fluid

So I've been searching for awhile and was wondering if any advancements have been made in fluid?

I'm about to do a flush along with some clappers and lines. From the info I've found I'm leaning with AP Racing 660. Is there anything out there comparable at a comparable price?

Also where can I find this stuff? Do any of our sponsors have it? Also if you reccomend a different fluid please tell me where I can get it.

Car will be used for hard driving on/off the track.

Thanks for da help.

Jim

for a lightweight car like the ITR, the ATE Gold/super blue is more than sufficient for track events

I like (and use) the Motul RBF600 because (a) it has a high boiling point; (b) I've had good experience with it, meaning a crapload of track events without ever boiling the fluid; (c) it's widely available; and (d) it's reasonably priced.

Valvo Synpwr is great stuff. Track day in the middle of the summer, a friend running the ATE stuff boiled his fluid and his brakes got real soft in a bad spot... Mine never even budged.

A motorcycle website/shop in Irvine California is selling Motul MBF600 for $7.95 Per Bottle. I ordered 10 bottles of Motul RBF 600 (They come in boxes of 12, oh well) on Monday, and they arrived today- Wednesday. Cost includes price of shipping (UPS GROUND, how'd it get here so fast?) and a 2.5% handling fee, and sales tax if you're a CA resident.

I called their customer service line, spoke with Claire and asked about the price. I guess they hadn't updated the website yet, it was indeed too low. But they do have 300 bottles or so in stock.

So, get it while the gettin's good.

Their website is not very fully featured, but it is functional, and they shipped it quick!

-Chris

EDIT: Makes a great stocking stuffer

I've always used ATE Super Blue, for the same reasons as Ken.

Although it seems to be harder to find now, it was easy to find when I was tracking my cars.

The IT7 car ran Motul and we never had a problem with it either.

For street use, I use the valvoline synthetic DOT 3/4 fluid. You can get a huge container for half the price of the RBF600.

For track days I've been using RBF-600 since 2004, and before that I used the ATE superblue. I didn't notice any difference in performance, they both held up well to 4-5 30-45min sessions. I bleed my brakes before/after every trackday so I can't offer any "long term" reviews.

Try using the RBF, I use that street/track haven't had any issues. A lot of people like the ATE blue as well, I drove an M3 with ATE and it felt fine, both are adequate

Valvoline snypower is what I use. Its the best off the shelf stuff and most parts stores carry it. Never experienced any problems with this fluid to date. Maybe my Stoptechs help with this? I havent changed my fluid since Expo 5.
