Mr. Sp00m was translated as saying.....
that "expensive oil is a waste of money" in the Type R Legends vdo. I always thought that was an odd statement coming from him, so I just chalked it up as bad translation. Turns out that I could be right, b/c in the new issue of Rev Speed or was it Option2, he says to never be cheap- so don't use cheap, inferior oil.

So, he was saying, "use expensive Spoon oil"?
I saw that video too. As he was saying people should you use expensive oil, you could see the Spoon workers slapping Spoon stickers on bottles of Castrol GTX in the back.
If spoon had oil I would just buy one bottle just for fun.
Spoooooooon.
Spoooooooon.

If "Mr.Spoon" said he eats a **** sandwich for good luck before a race, 90% of the "JDM crazy" population would do it also.
People go nuts over Spoon just because it's Spoon.
FWIW, do the math.. 1 oil change w/ OEM filter and Mobil1. 3000 mile interval.
or use Castrol GTX or Mobil regular or whatever, and change your oil every thousand or 1500 miles. Same price.

On sp00n bread too. The difference is that the pattern of the grain is tighter, and goes horizontally instead of diagonally. It's lighter and has more carbohydrates than USDM bread.
I remember Ichishima-san saying in the (Japanese) Type R video: "If you aren't sure what kind of oil to use, don't be afraid to try the manufacturer-recommended oil. It's not bad at all, so you should definitely consider it as one of your choices."
This is from memory, so it may be somewhat inaccurate, but the key phrase he uttered was, "Keshite warukunai".
Odd the only oils I knew that Spoon used was there own LSD oils. More then likely they just use something off the shelve in Japan.
However Mugen uses there own stuff but then again they had it formulated from BP oils for the N1 races. But they only come in drums and only bought by race teams in Japan.
But I like Fina, Elf, Agrip, Motul and Amsoil oils myself, but they are not what I call cheap. Friend in Spain uses Respo oil is what most guys there tend to use in there Hondas and Seats or it's Fina or Agrip.

Spoon actually uses Motul with their engines. Tranny wise, they use ORG (Ogura clutch) .
Personally, I like Redline and Lubromoly (german) better.

It's not irrelevant. The owner of Spoon knows a thing or two about Hondas. Anybody who has watched the Spoon Sports video would know about the oil statement. Quite a few people have been curious about it. Myself being one.
yes, according to the video he did say that... but isnt oem honda oil more expensive than most out there? synthetic might be good but if you drive it hard, you toss it after 3000 miles anyways... if organic oils lubricate just fine to about 3000miles then why bother with the other crap. I'm sure Mr. Spoon uses Motul cuz Motul pays lots of Yen...

What does Mr. Spoon drive anyways?
) In a few pics I've seen an old Mercedes in the Spoon shop too I'm guessing its his also.
