HID Kit on 5th Gen Prelude Problem???
Hello All,
Just like the topic says, anyone put HIDs in the stock light house and have problems with the lighting or the beam coming out of the headlight?
Just wondering as I'm thinking about getting a HID kit
Thanks
chaskim

i have hids in my stock housing and they seem to do just fine...i might get some projectors later on though...
the glare is pretty bad. i have HID's out of an x5, and on a foggy day, i cant see a thing. also oncoming traffic is constantly high-beaming me. i bought projectors for an x, but i havent found anyone who can do the retrofit. here's a really bad pic (camera phone) to give u an idea.
i just recently put some HID into my stock headlight housing and i dont seem to have a bad problem with glare. maybe it just depends on what type of HID you get. mine came off of an Lexus but not sure of which model.
Lexus Ls400, ES 300, Gs300-Gs400 (old model), 1999-2003 Acura TL, CL, even RL, New Camry 2005, Accord 2005......Alot of them came from the Factory with HID but no projector. So I think my should be fine with the rest of them

Prelude1897 is the man for custom HID retrofitting. It's worth every penny. You get a nice cut off/organized beam and it also makes the car look more aggressive.
HID without projectors do have a glare problem. If you choose this route, please aim the beam down as much as you can and not in the air like ricers.

Those headlights are made specifically for HID's, that's why they don't create the glare and staggered beam pattern that the headlights created for halogen bulbs produce.
I had nissan Hid's in my 5th gen, took them out and sold them the same day because of this issue.

This is very true.
They use D2R bulbs...you can't use those bulbs with a non hid reflector.

Yeah, I wouldn't suggest putting HID into a stock Prelude housings. You'll have massive glare and hot spots. You'll be shinning more up into trees and bushes than the street, plus its bad for on coming traffic. The reason why all the cars that come factory with them and don't have projectors look fine is cause their housings to made for those lights. Prelude housings weren't made for them at all....There are quite a few threads about this
