I am thinking about turbo-ing my car but i wanna do a compression and leak down test on my D16Z6 to see how healthy the engine is first. im not quite sure exactly how though. I've read about it and I kinda have an idea but im not sure what TDC #1 is and a few other things. If someone who has done this before to the same engine could give me some advice or detailed instructions...it would be much appreciated

 

TDC #1 is when the #1 piston (drivers side) is at the top of the block.
You can find TDC by looking at the notches on the cam gear, setting it so that cam gear reads up, the notches are lined up with the head, and double check the crank notch should be lined up with a marker from the cover.

The test only takes but maybe 10 minutes, so if you have a lot of trouble from it, I couldn't image a local shop charging you too much to check it, and that way you know for sure it is correct.
