I swapped in a z6 in my dx hatch, car runs and drives hard however I have one problem.
While running hard, I get this nasty exhaust smell.
It is stemming from the fact that my car used to be an auto, and when I put the shifter on, I still have some openings.
How can I close this hole up without welding.
Anything that I can buy?
I used carboard for the upper hole.
I just have small gaps.

My old hatch used to do this after hard runs too. And only started to do it right after the swap
I guess if your hatch is old and has a swap it happens lol.. I never actually figured it out

Yep, I know exactly what you're talking about...I have it too in my car. Mine was also an automatic before the motor was swapped, so I have a small hole in front of the shifter.
I don't know what it is, but it smells like fuel sometimes.
Just cover up the hole. I used a small, thin piece of metal with some quiksteel clay.
No more smell

my car does the same i have talked to a few people about it and the only thing we can come up with is that the valves are floating and fuel is escaping from the intake
Check if your exhaust is touching/less than 2cm from your bumber/lip, could be melting plastic. Also, check the under side of your car to see if it's touching. But it sounds like clutch, is it new?, if not change it.

If your valves are floating you have bigger problems than fuel escaping from the intake. I don't even think valve float will cause fuel to leak out the intake because you must be at high revs to induce valve float, and the air velocity would not allow the fuel to leak back to anywhere you would be able to smell it.
