lsvtec dowel pins
quick question... im doing my lsvtec this week, i have everything ready. im using b18b block, with 99 si head, only thing im confused about is the dowel pins, im using an ls headgasket, so will i be using the ls dowel pins? and if im using the ls dowel pins would i have to drill the holes where the dowel pins go, a lil bigger? and which side will they be goin, EX or IN? anything, any advice would be helpfull... thanks in advance
oh and one more thing. im using an ls waterpump with an ls timing belt is that ok? will an ls timing belt be safe and last?. i dont wanna go with a type r or gsr waterpump, cuz the pump and belt are only like 7 months old
If im not mistaking I believe they go on the exhaust side....When I did my b20 vtec we had to make the hole for the dowels bigger....But you might wanna find out for sure....I cant remember what side they go on

or you can just use G-E dowels. There cheaper and safer then drilling your head and risking any problems.

the dowel pins on a non vtec motor wont line up with the dowel pins on a vtec motor.(on any b-series vtec motor. so you have to tap the head to match the block, also you have to plug the head where the oil gets fed from the block. its kinda hard.

The dowels do line up. Just there different sizes. The golden eagle dowels are steeped for the size differences.

r u gonna use a LS head gasket or a B16 HG? i think if u wanna use the LS headgasket, u will still need to drill out the headgasket to use the GE dowels. im using a Honda LS headgasket and i used the LS dowels. they are placed on the intake side of the block. u will need to drill out the head to make the dowels fit. i think the drill bit size is 9/16"
yes dowel holes are 9/16"
for me since i work in machine shop i will perform this myself,
i would rather ream that hole to 9/16" instead of drill it to size b/c with a drill it wanders but since ur going to be following another smaller drilled holed it should line up fine
