How do you guys stop your crx leaking from your hatch area I no all crx do this.
I have a question now this is my 4th crx in like the past year Im sick of them but Im trying to fix this one up and sell it. What I want to know is how do you stop the car from leaking around the hatch area with the lift supports are. Its pissing me off all of my crx's have done this and this one is like omg even worse. Just by washing the car is leaks and the back area is leaking like crazy. It sucks has anyone had this problem before??
Yea actually I have discovered the great secret to the leaking hatch by a fluke. The way I discovered the leak is that on my black car I did body work in which I did a lot of sanding and wet sanding on a light grey primer. So any time I would wash away the wet sanding residue with water it would leave a nice little trail wherever the water went. Although I didnt think it could happen the water actually went in behind the weather stripping and up over the seam of the hatch in a couple key places. One being where the hatch strut is and the other place was down at the bottum corner where I noticed it trail up onto the top of the seam where it then channeled until it got to where the hatch latch is and thats where the bulk of the water enters into the spare tire area. To remedy all of this I put a bead a silicone on the seam and then put the weather stripping on, to this day I no longer get leaks in the hatch.
Just as a side note I also found that water was entering through my taillight gaskets also but not as much. I also found some remnants of the grey primer tracer in the seams inside the rear wheel wells where the back of the car meets the rear quarter and also in the area where the plastic bumper mounts are located. Hit all that up with a liberal amount of silicone and you should be rust free for a long time

lol i have the same problem with the lick coming from my hatch but (i have the inside stripped at the moment)the water pools inside the strut holder and drips where my lock box should be only does it on pass. side took me forever to figure out why the car was smelling bad after it rained lol thanks for the silicone tip
yeah my car is all gutted right now no interior And I got no wiring in my car either Replacing the wiring harness so what I am going to do is look at the weatherstripping tomorrow if its bad then Im going to go find me another one but this is like leak leak its bad my other one like leaked but I had napkins at the lift supports. so thanks for responding and hopefully I can fix this problem asap.

You are referring to the weather stripping that surrounds the hatch opening and not the ones that run front to back on the top of the car, right? Where did you apply the silicone? I guess I didn't quite understand that part.
Thanks.

you know when u open the hatch the rubber lining around the back of the car when u open the hatch not on top of the car inside of the hatch it leaks from the lift supports that lifts the hatch up.

have any of you experienced leaks in your crx from where the hatch bolts to the chassis? i can see a little surface rust accumulating and if im not mistaken ive actually seen it drip from the underside of the roof, right under where the hatch would be bolted. i think there was a thread where a guy used some sort of sealer then painted over it. ive had my crx gutted for over a year now and im tired of it. im ready to put it all back together, but in a dry environment.
