Default ES lower ball joint boots..

Anyone tried the Energy Suspension lower ball joint boots? My car busts ball joint boots just sitting in the garage. Seriously. I don't think I have more than one event on these lower ball joints and the boots are ripped. Are the ES ones tougher or has anyone even tried them?

Thanks,
Chris

Are you ripping them when you put the retaining clip on? I've gone through a few of them, but I find that wrapping them in heat barrier tape really extends their life - I buy it from Pegasus http://s2.pegasusautoracing.com/092.pdf

I replaced the entire ball joint maybe two events ago. But that has been about 2 years. Maybe they just dry rotted. I was just thinking the poly boot might be tougher.

They may be more resistant to tearing but I think they will melt easier - and they dont have a retaining clip to keep them (and the grease) in place.

Don't both with them, they are junk. One session on track and they will be melted!

yeah, theyre really only useful for a street application, because poly has such a low melting temp. while they DO work to protect the balljoint (despite not making a complete seal) and are more physically rugged than the stock rubber boots that rips dont happen, i still think youre better off replacing with OEM boots. theyre pretty cheap, like $3 each.

Anyone have any tips for putting new boots on with the clips? My only method that has worked so far is to take on of my biggest sockets that can fit over the boot and balljoint, slide the clip on that then carefully carefully slide the socket and clip over and push the clip up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.

over the stock boot? just slide it on... use a plier tip or screwdriver to get the first end in the groove and work it around. kinda like putting a key in a keyring. not sure why you have to do anything special with a socket...
