srs light blinks while trying to check cels
well.. i tried checking my cel by connecting the jumper with a wire... and the srs starts blinking...?! does anyone know why this happens? i have a 94 prelude S with a jdm h22 swapped in...
maybe the srs light flashes the code?? and you dont "check cels." you may check the dtcs, or trouble codes, but not cels. and secondly, its not a check engine light, its a mil or malfunction indicator lamp.
brolli, if you take a look at the light, it says check, and there is an engine drawn around it....
if the check engine light doesnt flash when you jump the wires, but the srs one does, then you just dont have any codes tripped....and the srs flashing just tells you that you jumped the wires correctly....
i suppose that thing has its own set of trouble codes too but i dont know anything about them....i doubt its flashing one though, as long as its not on while you drive....

at first when i start my car.. the check engine light is off.. but than when i start driving... (usually when i dont let my car warm up fully and step on it) the cel would pop up... but than once i turn the car off and back on.. it goes away...

no.. thats the thing.. i can't get the code.. everytime i jump my wires.. the srs lights starts blinking instead of the cel (and yes i am doing it right)... what i want... i want my code!!! (when i drive the cel would pop up and was wondering what i need to fix it)
if the CEL stays on then you have a problem w/ the ECU.
I think you will find more responses if you add too much information to your post. Like exactly the sequence you do to pull the codes.

Just cuz' nobody else has mentioned it yet... There is the autozone option right?
This does seem a bit odd though. I've never herd of the light going off after you shut off the car. I mean you have two basic flows for that light popping on.
1) You have a diagnostic trouble code that is important enough to illuminate the MIL light immediately and keep it on.
2) You have a DTC that happens intermittently and after a set number of times popping up the MIL light gets turned on.
My terminology might be wrong here (maybe broli can help out here ;-) but I'm pretty sure that's how it's all suppose to work. I didn't think that the light was ever suppose to turn off. I mean, unless you pull the battery or radio fuse.
Your only real option here might be to set up a drive with your mechanic or buy a OBD I/II scanner.
ODD TRIVIA: Based on the Helms it seems that it's a "Check Engine Light" in Canada and a "Malfunction Indicator Light" in the US... And that the icons are actually different on the light.
