Just finished swap but knocking noise... Help
I just finished putting my 1995 b18b1 back into my Eg hatch. Now for some reason it has a knocking noise. I'm not sure if it's a valve train knock or whatever... when i had it in the car before it was running clean... now it knocks so what are the possibilities of this.
You are going to have to do better than that. Find out where it is coming from. It could be anything given the information or should I say lack there of that you have provided us with.

That's a waste of money if it isn't valvetrain. You are a moron, leave.

Sorry for the lack of info. but it seems like it's coming from the head... i didn't want to put my head too close to the exhaust manifold to actually make sure... it seems like it could be either both head and bottom end. what could the case be? you can hear it very clearly too when it's started. click.... that's the actual noise click click click click... yea so i just want to get to the bottom of this
get a big flat head
put the tip at where u want to listen to a sound closely
then put your ear on the handle
use this method to find where extactly the sound is coming from

and you are an ***. you added nothing at all by that post.
to the OP, from what you described it sounds like its the valves. do/have someone do a valve adjustment for you, the tools arent expensive and its not hard to do yourself

would this be of some help also... while the engine was out of the car... the engine was sitting outside ever since mid october with no headers on? would that be the reason why after i put my engine back into my car it sounded like the valves were tapping? if so then what could it be tapping? the pistons? or the valve seats?
as for the tools. yea i'll do anything for the first time... as long as you got good directions and i have the tools i'll do it myself. I'd rather have myself do it than anyone else...

im having the same problem, and im also guessing the head even though i was told it might be the block, because it sounds like it did when i had the b16 in, now its a gsr w/the same head so i hope its the head

Actually I did add something you are just too obtuse to realize what it was. I was saving the OP money by telling him not to just go and get a valve adjustment. Think before you post.
And there are several other things it could be besides valves. So don't waste peoples time and money.

Untrue. Although it is a rare occurance, once in a great while I see a car at work that sounds like the valves are ticking when in fact it is a faulty injector. All of the ones I have seen had a defect in them from the factory and the vehicles all had less than 100 miles on them.
So yes, 99% of the time they will not be. Being a tech you learn to never say never.
