Intuition would tell me the Ex tranny.. But they could be the same for all I know. Trans is one thing I wont do

Sorry man, but unless you boost your dx sohc.. You're not going to feel much power anywhere.

it is getting boosted in the pring. have already got most of the parts for her for a xmas present. as of right now it has the zc intake mani, msd sci box and coil, full exhaust, venom 260cc injectors, aem fuel rail and fpr, ecu reprogramed, and 50 shot nx kit. its not bad but the tranny has to go. thankx for the help. will it just drop in? i am assuming that if i get one from a 99 ex it will drop in..

hey hey hey.. i'm not sure but i think 5th gear on ex trannies are almost the same as cx/dx trannies. well i have a dx tranny on my 96 hb and rpm ranges are the same as my friend's ex coupe. (unless mine aint a ex tranny but i'm 99.9% sure it is bc of the long gears) anyways im not sure what the numbers are on each gear but 5th gear on an ex tranny aint much of a difference. lets hear more about this

but yeah, get an ex tranny. you'll see the difference 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, i'm just not sure about 5th. anyways my point is its better if u get it, but if ur looking at results for 5th, then im not quite so sure

Just for reference, my 96 EX pretty much stock is at about 3k RPM @ 70 MPH in 5th gear. I find the 5th gear ratio to be well placed for DD. Thats just my 2cents

Good page for comparison of trannies, although it is specific for 92-95.
