Default 5-lug DRAG slick/wheel combo question!

I have done a search, and would like to get a few suggestions from fellow 5-lug'ers.

Long story short... I will be competing in the NHRA SFWD class this coming Spring, however I am rolling on '98 ITR full brakes/suspension. To anyone who drag races their ITR... what are you guys using for wheels?

I am interested in running the Weld Magnum wheel in 13 inch, but the guys at Weld said some considerable grinding will have to be done + spacers to get it to work. Has anyone else done this? Are there any other companies who offer a 13 inch wheel that WILL clear ITR suspension/brakes? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

all the itr guys who drag that I know and are serious either run a 15" wheel with slicks OR run a smaller front hub/ brakes for dragging.

What diameter slick are you going to need? Then work backwards to get something that'll work for you.

A good friend who is somewhat local to me runs 15" wheels and 10's in his itr:

Make sure you use EG front hubs, they use the smaller disks/rotors that 13's will easily clear.

Black R, thanks for the thorough response. 15 inch wheels are not an option as I will be running 25 inch slicks.

Are you aware of any "smaller" hub setup that will still retain the 5x114.3 lug pattern for street use? Thanks.

as far as i recall, you are limited to 15s with the brake setup we have. I got some bogarts for my R. are you trying to get the biggest slick possible on that or what? you could get a 24.5x8.5 in a 15"

Yuck. I really need the sidewall of the 13 inch wheel setup for the power the car will be making. Looks like I may have to just swap out hubs for racedays

just get a eg or ek DX brake rotor redrilled for 5 lug and switch out calipers with eg or ek dx calipers. viola! the brake setup of an EG with the bolt pattern of an ITR. have fun stopping tho. those brakes SUCK for anything over 120mph. but they work well enough to stop once before they overheat.

You can run 24.5 inchers on 15's fine.
You can even get 26's on that car with raising the front up a tad

Thats the size that I run, best 60' so far with them was a 1.697 and alot of constant low 1.7's. I have a set of 26x8.5x15 to go in, but havent really felt that they are necessary yet. If you have to run 13's then you are more than likely gonna have to ditch the 5-lug and go 4-lug. Also, since most import drag wheels that are made are 4-lug you will have to special order some for 5-lug, I waited months for mine, just a heads up..one more pic..
