Hey, Im thinking of getting a del sol for a project car but was wondering some things about them so if any experts can answer these questions I would appreciate it.

1. What year would you suggest I look for and why?
2. How do these cars handle? I would imagine pretty good with how light they are.
3. Are there any good superchargers out there for a del sol? Im thinking it would be a fun autox car.

well, i've always heard "Del Slow" but there's a VTEC version that has a B16 in it. so there's 160hp with crappy torque like every other car, but a lot better than the D16 version of the del sol.

i think they started making that B16 version in 1995 not sure though, and if you find one expect to spend a little more.

I'm actually getting a del Sol myself, fairly soon. It's the 1.5 liter, with a Y8 head on it. Driving it for a while, but I'll be building a Z6 and dropping it in (and, of course, boosting). <3 Learning. Two months ago I knew NOTHING. Relative to the rest of you, that holds true still... But yeah. Have fun with the project.

And the answer to your question is that the DOHC VTEC was added in 1994.

superchargers arent as much car dependent as they are engine depended, exceptions such asn an h22 engine in an eg hatch prolly wont have the room for a supercharger. The cars handle pretty well, but much can be had from a nice coilover system along with swaybars and new bushings.

heaviness is all relative, a del sol is hella light compared to a truck lol

My opinion to your Q's
1. any year would be fine i think, you are making it a project anyway.
2. the prices were in that link above, the weight of the car is the heaviest of all civics at around 2500-2600 lbs (due to all the added weight of extra support under the body because of its targa top), the 4dr sedans (92-95) weigh only like 2400 lbs
3. as far as supercharging, it does depend on what engine you put in the Sol, the Del Sol chassis is the same thing as a 92-95 civic with just a different body basicly. same engines, same suspension ect.

I had a 95 Del Sol myself and it was a great car, Good luck

Ive owned a 95 del Sol S for a little over a year now. It has no ps, great air, awesome stock handleing, severely underpowered stock motor, totally fun to drive. I have zero complaints about this car. my suggestion though is dont buy a 93 model as they have the worst reviews of all of them, before i bought mine, i read somewhere i cant remember that the 95-97 years were the best ones that honda made. There arent a ton of aftermarket parts for them but there is still alot of potential in them.

As far as I know, there's just as many parts. I mean... It's the same engines... For example, the Si model is just the Z6 engine. There's parts all over for that. The 160hp VTEC is, I believe, the B16A2. Don't know about the S model... Some sort of 1.5 liter, and then I believe the switched to the D16Y7 or something like that.

&lt;3 Ohio man. Hah. Maybe you can help me with my project.
