are you allowed to remove the bumper beams in h1?
Donno if you can, but it's not a good idea.
Any1 have the pic of the H2 PY ITR with JDM front end wreck at VIR from 03 ECHC season? It wasn't pretty .....

i agree its not a good idea but could not tell by reading the rules if its was allowed or not. and i did read the rules several times.
ok let me be more specific.
c) Hood, BUMPER SUPPORTS, and the front bumper cover may be replaced with a substitute of unrestricted material.
is this talking about the bumper beam? or the supports that hold up the bumper cover?

sounds like by including "supports," they're allowing you freedom in method of attachment when using a bumper cover of alternate material. or something like that.

I take "bumper supports" to mean the supports behind it. That means that you can replace what you call the "beams".
I have seen H1 cars do it, and it's a pretty good weight savings if you make your own.
I believe if they meant "attachments", they would say that instead of supports...

I have one picture of my car somewhere before the crash, can't remember if we took pics after. The frame rails absorbed the impact, only got a couple of scratches on the exhaust manifold heat sheild though.
I miss it in all it's yellow JDM rice glory, but now it's all go and no show.

There are several cars running on the West Coast that have taken advantage of that rule and not been protested or otherwise DQed. To simply replace it with fiberglass would be legal, just stupid. The ones I've seen have gone tubular like the offroad and buggy guys do.

Now, that is damn funny Johnny!
Yeah, as John mentioned, tubular seems to be the way to go. Saves some weight, and still provides the structure you need there!
