so yeah it was the first rain here in the bay area a few days ago, and i have a 90 crx si, and its bad enough the sunroof is rusted, but i noticed while i was driving that i heard a sloshing around in the back, so i get home and pull out my cargo cover etc to see a pretty good sized pool of water. now i know this is a pretty common problem with ef8s(this is my second one, first during winter). so i just curious where its coming in from and how the hell can i fix it cuz i have my battery back there and i dont want that shorting or stuff getting all moldy n ****, any input would be awesome
thanx in advance H-T

Replace the tail-light gaskets. You can get you a set at San Leandro Honda - it's right in your area. That should help, as a lot of times, water sneaks through the taillight area.
Also, see if you can clean out your drain tubes for your sunroof while you're at it. You may have to take off the headliner to access them - I don't remember - but they are in each of the 4 corners of the sunroof assembly.

Thats what i did , and it solved all of my leaks inside the car.
I used an air compressor , and used air pressure to blow the junk out of the drain tubes.

To clean the roof drains you don't need to take out the headliner. Pull the side panels in the back and you can see a tube on each side, maybe 2 or 3 cm in diameter. They go into holes that drain into the wheelwell. Pull them out and you will see a flapper valve on the end. That is *supposed to* keep bugs and stuff from getting in there I think, but all it does is clog the tube with grease and dirt. Pull them out, but have something to catch the water and crap that comes. Then flush it either by pouring fresh water through the roof or blowing air from a compressor through. Make sure you get them in their holes in the frame, I missed one of mine and the next time it rained I had like 10cm of water in the spare tire well overnight, the windows wouldn't defog, and it smelled like mildew for a long time. You also might want to make sure your rear washer squirter is sealed still, especially if the roof isn't mounted right (this is the case on my CRX). If you have water coming in the hatch strut mounts, that's probably where it's coming from. If it's that, you will see it dripping on the rear speakers.

i have just the opposite problem i dont get water in the hatch area i get it on the floor when it rains out and then i drive the water moves around and thats why i removed the carpet but it still gets wet and i dont know where it comes from
It might take some time to figure out what the problem is...in the mean time, drill a couple drain holes in spare tire well so it has someplace to go.
When you figure out and fix your leak, if you are so inclined, you can plug them up with rubber, screws/bolts, silicone, rivets, whatever.

i dont get wet in the rear (lol that sounded funny) The rain seems to accumulate in my CRX on the passenger floor. I thought the window didnt seal but thats not it. Could it run to the floor forward? I cant tell if its the hatch, the door, the nozzle on top, or what it is!! Any thoughts would help bc I cant tell without taking out my interior.
do most of you guys just leave it leaking like that? or how do u guys prevent it from soaking into the carpet...i just bought a crx and started raining recently and leaks in the rear hatch shocks area...and i can't stand it...i parked it and left some towels covering it for now and i'm driving my other car for now until i have time to fix the leak... I can't stand it...just wondering what you guys do...

reseal rear windshield wiper squirter
check/replace hatch seal
replace taillight seals
and my favorite...drill a drain hole

when we have problems like this at the deallership, we have somone get inside the car with a flashlight and someone takes a hose and runs water over the area where it is leaking. you can find it almost every time. good luck
had the same problem before, but it was even worst. i check and clear and cleaned all the sunroof hoses and check and replaced the weatherstripping. after that it hasnt leaked since.
i had to trouble shoot my swiming pool problem 2 years ago. car is also a 90 crx si.
i look at the sunroof drain to make sure its not clogged. it wasnt.
long story short, its the taillight gasket, i added some tile sealer, and it fixed the swiming pool problem
but i still get a few drops in there sometimes. maybe its time for a new taillight gasket.

u got a link to any of that? all the ones i see are $200 and up...
also i know u can go clean but it seems like a lot of ppl leave it like that for awhile.....just wondering what u guys did before that
