Default the second best "mod" ever.

after five years of owning my CRX, i finally took the plunge.

after five years of owning my CRX, spending $500+ on engines, shocks, etc, i finally took the plunge.

after five years of owning my CRX, spending countless hours of wiring and rewiring virtually everything, i finally took the plunge.

The plunge being... spending $20 on a goddamn hatch strut. That's right ladies and gentlemen, no more vice grips on the strut. No more baseball bat holding the hatch up. No more "hey, can you hold the hatch up for me."

Nope...

my hatch works.

The End.

Finally, someone does something to their car that makes a noticeable difference in one aspect of performance. Seriously, I replaced mine before I had the Hf motor removed or the replacement motor that was going into it. You should maybe not post things like this. It's like telling people you crapped your pants on the way home from work. Embarrassing enough to probably keep to yourself.

On a side note, a friend of mine, while trying to grab a quart of oil out of his crx's hatch, broke his front tooth in half when his ghetto rig pole slipped an his hatch closed on his head. He came into the club where everyone was meeting and didn't say anything. He came to me and quietly (hiding his teeth with his hand over his lip) told me he had to go to the dentist first thing in the morning. I asked why and he showed me. Talk about trying not to laugh. Later that week he told everyone a girl headbutted him at the club, but I had to call him out because I hate liars. Remember, 9 out of 10 dentists recommend replacing your hatch struts before severe tooth decay sets in. Let it be a warning to anyone else out there who's too cheap to make a simple fix. It cost my friend over $1,000 bucks to bond that tooth, but to me, it was worth the laugh.

Ha you made my night...it is so sad yet so true. You must be rich though using vice grips! I just had a broom handle.

LOL, on my other REX, I spent $$ left and right, kept telling myself to buy new hatch struts and never did. After relocating the battery to the trunk, and pulling off the suspension r times, holding that hatch up gets to be a bitch.

When I bought the new project CRX last week, I got it home, went to pop the hatch. As I lifted it...the struts actually worked and it went up on its own. You couldn't believe how utterly excited I was. The look on my face was probably priceless. No vicegrips, no broomsticks, just voila, its up.
On top of that, I found a radar detector in the rear stoarage compartment

yeah... that was a joke we had back in 2002... it's funny to see someone attach it to their signature like they coined it though

thanks for the laughs.

how so? There are PLENTY of people who forego the $20 strut and use the $20 towards tacobell for a week or gas...hence, the replies

christ, some people can't take a light-hearted thread. Maybe i shoulda posted about whether rear discs from a ITR will fit or if i should use a 6 point harness with no rollbar/cage.

haha, no sweat! It only took my 6 months to replace it!

and wiper blades? My daily driver (Maxima) needed new wipers. It was at the point where the passenger side blade was seperated. I loaned my car to my girlfriend's mom when I was in Florida.

It rained like crazy here in Vegas and so she went out and bought the blades for me. which was way nice of her...otherwise, i'd probably still have those old blades.

Um not to hijack, but when you guys open you'r hatch... like how hard is it to open. My hatch is like insanely hard to open, and then when you finally get it up, it doesn't want to come down... will new struts fix this.
