Shopping for a header
Well, Christmas is around the corner, and after that I'm saving up for a header along with what I plan to be, a thermal cat back.
Anyhow, I just wanted to get an idea of what is out there and do some research. What I'm looking for is something that will give me fairly good performance, yet practical for a daily driver SH. I also want them to be reliable, and not have to worry about them cracking or any other nightmares. They should also be a fairly reasonable price, I'm on a very tight budget here.
I know, I just asked for all the best qualities. So for a daily driver, good performance, reliable, and a reasonably good price, what do you guys suggest?

well seeing as you said you were doing research but it doesn't sound like you used the search button
and you didn't give us a price for you to work with since you are on a budget
companies that come to mind: greddy/dc/rmf/smsp/mugen/etc

I did use the search button, and got an idea. But I mostly got what I don't want to get as I saw a lot of complaints about Kamikaze and Megan.
Anyhow, for cost range, I'm looking for something up to or around $400 at most. However, I'll spend what it takes to get a decent one that will hold up for driving year around, every day.

I'm running a DC ***** Header on my 94 VTec model right now and well...for the money it's ok and you could probably see better gains with the 2.5" collector mod. But when it comes time I'm investing in one of those goodies from Mr. Randy (RMF).
Thanks. I also forgot to add, could you guys list some good venders for some headers.
So far I'm thinking DC will be the best bang for my buck, but I'd like to take a look at some RMFs. Problem is, I'm having trouble finding anything besides DC that will fit an SH.

might as well stick with the stock header if you gonna waste money on a DC.
the cost per hp makes the custom headers worth the money (especially the RMF

I've got an OBX SS header and it's pretty good. I went ahead and matched the header to the gasket right when I got it and that cleaned it up a bit. Probably picked up another hp. Also, I think it came with a 2.25" collector, which isn't bad. All I can say is get a SS header for a daily driver

i got a neuspeed header for like 350 canadian so that would be with in your price range but i did got it for a deal so look around there are lots to choose from spend your money wisly you will regret it if you cheap out
I have been looking for a header for awhile also. I would definetely not settle for DC. I am on a budget also and can't afford a SMSP or RMF. I actually settled for a 4 month used Kteller "Rage" header. Haven't paid for it yet, but I think I am gonna get it. Try and find a used header from someone who is going turbo or something.
Yeah, now that I think about it, a DC with minimal gains isn't worth the $300.
I've tried searching for some RMFs or SMSs, DTMs but can't find anything, not even on ebay. Does anyone have any links to some venders who sell these headers?

you can only get it through RMF directly or through IPH. They are custom pieces made by one person, not a few. If other people made them, then it wouldnt really be an "RMF" header now would it

You won't find these on ebay because they are all custom made.

Unless you are willing to dump large cash, alot of H22 headers make hardly no power gain. JDM headers of the H22A is the best one to my knowledge. I have a greddy on and everyone tells me unless you wanna spend over 600$ on a header it's the best one. Greddy/DC Sports/Vibrant are cheap alternatives, not that much power gain, but good enough for the price. SMSP I was told is one of the best ones for power, but I got quoted 875$ Canadian for one, and that was shop price (brother was the mechanic).

which is exactly why people like rmf are around...he makes the (disputably) best h22 header, and its not the most expensive, its $850 american
the fact that my h22 put down ~40whp over stock h22s with the rmf and a j's intake (which is killing my top end power) and a 60mm catback choking up my 2.5 collector shows that $850 is damn well worth it.....i put down as much power as an intake, ge intake mani, dc header, catback h22 did with a 75shot of NOSSSSS.....
take it with a grain of salt if you like....to me its worth it.....

Yeah... it would be very nice to have a RMF, and it may have large gains and the best HP for the buck, but it really just doesn't seem to be within any of my constraints. Since I'm also going to be getting a cat-back and lowering springs, I really need something around $400 or less. So I might go with the lower end.
Anyway, concentrating on this price range, what do you suggest? Should I even bother getting a new header or just stick with my stock header?
