Some performance to JDM B20A7
Hi,
Im a newbie at this forum but i was reading some of the threads and i thought i'd give it a shot..
First of all i know you are gonna say about the cylinder material but it has been
taken care of allready..
So, I would like to know what would be pretty easy ways to make some performance out of my BA4 Prelude (3gen). So the motor is B20A7, i think its
JDM because its european model and it makes 150Hp and 180Nm with factory parts.. I would be looking for some CAI system (from good brands as AEM and so, if not possible anything goes) Propably new camshafts and some basic performance parts as so. The exhaust i was planning to get done by a friend of mine who's a welder, 3" pipe all the way with one muffler right after header and at the end DC Sports 3" muffler. I was kind of lookig for EMS but for example AEM EMS cant fit because they dont do wiring kits for this application. Anyone know how hard it is to wire by self? Because i do electronics but i dont know does the AEM publish what wire is what in the manual..
Thanks for your help, and by the way i live in finland so the reason that i asked these questions was because i was thinking could i find some parts out of country, but shippings i can arange..

lol. Anyway, 3" is a little big for NA. I'd suggest 2.5" unless you plan to stick a big turbo in there. I don't know a whole lot about B20's, so I can't suggest too much. If you can't find a new cam, go to deltacam.com and they'll take your stock cams and regrind them to whatever spec you want (they also have some specs already written up in case you don't know what specs you should get)

Well i know for shure that its not the same engine that its in the states.. and by the way my engine code starts with letters "JDM".. if i remember right.. so that's where i got it.. I dont know that any engine shifts have been made because i have the registeration history on paper
it might be euro engine because my memory can be bad, too bad that i cant check it because the prelude is 40 miles away from me in a garage

the money you will spend on the aem ems and everything else could be better spent on swapping in an h22....parts are a lot easier to come by for the h22, not to mention the h has a lot of easily gotten horsepower hidden away....
if you decide to go that route, there is some good info on this site about doing it....
if you decide to keep the b20a7, which in fact is european, jdm motors dont have numbers after the last letter....anyways, if you do keep it, its tough to make good naturally aspirated power without vtec, and that block is quite solid, i say you get a custom turbo kit made, go with the 3 inch exhaust, and get a crome or uberdata setup, you wont spend much for that....
