Default Stock 1.6CTR cams in a 2.2L Block

This is theory since i dont own a honda but you guys are the best resource for N/A questions

If I have cams specifically made for a 1.6L motor and then im boring and stroking that motor to 2.2L, in theory, will the motor like the overlap increased or decreased? Im trying to understand how keeping cam lift and duration constant effects power when you increase the stroke and bore.

Thanks

well heres the deal, if your increasing the stroke and bore, the bigger holes, and the faster moving pistons will like to breathe ALOT heavier than the destroked 1.6's.

When you bore and stroke the motor you want more lift and duration to allow for more air in the combustion chamber. Overlap depends on things like which cams, how much duration, cam timing, if they were degreed, etc etc.

A larger motor can take a bigger cam. What I mean is the same cam that peaked at 8000 rpm in a 1.6 might peak at 7500 or even 7000 in a 2.0. Also, assuming we are leaving vtec out of the equation. The same 1.6 that might have trouble idling (very low vaccuum) will most likely idle fine in 2.0-2.2 using the same cam.

That's interesting
it looks like the ITR cams are equally agressive with the CTR cams but in a NEO-VVL (nissan) the 1.6 cams are more agressive than the 2.0 cams

Back to square one i guess
